I'm interested in real solutions, not gun theatre.
I'm not part of the shall not be infringed crowd. I get it. I get what it means. Yet The Second is infringed on daily in many states and jurisdictions and the court has blessed it. I'm open to reasonable solutions. Closing loop holes in background checks is reasonable.
We again have someone who was known to authorities, again the FBI. Someone troubled who then bought a gun. There is where focus should be. I don't pretend to have all the solutions. Profiling, AI, predictable analytics, whatever put it on the table to find solutions within keeping The Second.
I've never owned a gun. I occasionally think about getting one, I live in a state of infringement. Control is the reason for all the magazine capacity talk. I know after the "Insurrection Show" it is impolitic to remind people that occasionally the tree of liberty needs to be refreshed with the blood of patriots and tyrants. That can't be done without magazine capacity. Our institutions have evolved to be strong, they survived Trump. They work because they have the consent of the governed. Despite $1.9T relief bills and other things to disagree with we still consent. Thus government doesn't stray too far. We give up guns, we give up magazines, the government no longer needs our consent. People throw around fascism like the punchline of a joke. You'll see real fascism when the citizens of the United States are disarmed.
